Da Pope

I'm not Catholic, I'm not even religious, but the plight of this obviously courageous man actually moves me.

The fact that he's fought against all odds to establish a regime of tolerance and acceptance within a faith that is, by its very nature, relatively insular makes me almost...almost... believe that there is some greater purpose to life.

If only other humans were half as decent then we'd have no poverty or deprivation at all!

And most wars are fought over religion. Think of how blissful the world might be if everyone did not believe/think their religion was superior to any other. Or no religion at all. :hippy:

I'm religious but I don't think my religion is better than other religions. I would never tell someone else what to believe.

I am religious and I think each person follows the religion that suits them best at the time, depending on how evolved they are - thus how some people will twist what should be (IMO) only about love and knowledge and turn it into a dumb reason for war over something material which in my mind makes no sense at all but anyway people do what they think they have to do.

if you consider that we all where created at some point, but not at the same time, each individual is in a different level of knowledge*, and each makes their choices based on how much they have already gathered. Didn't religion started out as something "magic", with primitive things such as sacrifice of animals or even people to "please" the different gods? Then as we evolved it gets called religion, man understands that there is only one God... but I guess you'd need to either know or believe, if only for intuition, that the spirit pre-exists and goes on after the death of the body. For me, that explains why so many people, regardless of knowing at least the ten commandments, still fight over material possessions.

* it of course depends on how much one dedicates himself into learning more about where he came from, where he is going to... someone that only worries about material things will learn too, but obviously way slower

its hard for me to say what i believe. i definately believe in the golden rule, karma, and the 3x rule. i just think people need to be better to eachother, cuz we all are brothers and sisters right?
