what do you guys think about the idea of voting for admins/mods? like letting members vote for 2 admins (who have the password) and a couple of mods. But what if you then get someone who refuses to give up their admin-ness if voted out... Always thinking up problems, yup, that's me.

woops forgot to reply.
i don't think it's unfair to witchy. she made the decision to buy the place and then say, "hey guess what there's another pool!" she can't expect everyone to go, "Oh, okay! we'll see ya there!" it's her problem that she's paying for it. i don't mean that in an ugly way, it's just the truth.

BUT if you refuse to post at one place then eventually it will slow down and the members who stayed behind will eventually see the light. thats the way its gonna have to be. i mean why cant you talk about this openly?! its frekin ridiculous! the old pool is full of stool!!!! side note: it is a very busy time of the year....every board i belong to has slowed down this week. it will pick up again in a few weeks.

I don't think it was just a sudden spur of the moment decision!! And I mean look at the post sticked on the Pool, with Roger replying with all 'Oh yes, this is mod supported' BLAH.... Don't think it's as 'POOF' sudden as you think...

the democracy thing is stupid. witchy bought it. she can (and i am sure will) do with it as she wants. if someone gets in there (as in voted in) and then gets voted out, witchy will still remain in a position to delete the board. so, she will be THE admin even if she doesn't have admin powers. her power of termination will supersede all others. she will always have the ability to say "i can just delete this board". which she has that right since she owns it.
an autocratic system would be the ideal. i have always thought breschau was a good impartial mod. he did make a comment (or two) towards me that was biased, but i believe he was no longer a mod at that point. tc was great. i remember lotte as the type that said things like "i'll just take my ball home so no one can play" (example), but aside from that, i rarely remember her at all. kell is a good mod. anjhest would be a good mod if she can keep her temper down and her tolerance higher. oddly enough, i think pele would be a decent mod. she does ok at her board, but no one goes there but me and a couple other people. i think i would be a good mod (though i would never do it). sugamum is a groovy mod. spacedog wouldn't be too bad.
i think anyone i listed would make a good mod (though i doubt all are willing - only a couple would actually do it). i don't like witchy's style of mod. she (as is her profession) has the tendency to treat everyone like they are subject to her and like they are children. she's not bad until that whole scenario begins to surface (which inevitably will happen with her). if anjhest were to be mod, i think that would be good. or breschau or pele. other than those, i don't know if anyone else would be willing to do it.
kell tc sugamum i don't think they would do it. maybe. i don't think anyone under the age of 21 should be a mod. maybe even 25. but as far as democracy goes, i hate the idea of voting. appointment of the "best" should be the way. if someone wants to be part of the community and they are appointed, then they should want to be the mod. and someone that is willing to "throw their hat in the ring" so to speak for an election, i think i would instantly not let that person be a mod. even if i mentioned their names here. it should be a "duty" not a desire. if i were appointed a mod, i would do it out of a sense of duty, but i would never willingly nominate myself for an election. i have no desire for such things. but i do have a very strong sense of community. that is the thing that people should be looking for. maybe even put a term limit on the mod. say 4 months. then new appointment. that person can be reappointed, but no elections. a system like this is a good idea. but i would want more time to think it all through.
i would also want a system set up for judicial review. (i understand that this seems like a bit much, but i think it is necessary for a strong community of any situation no matter the size). a way in which a person can plead their case if "accused" of something that is going to get them banned. a separate board on the forum will be the only place they could post during such a case. only people asked to speak from either the current mod or the "accused" could speak in the board. open for all to see. if the case falls in favor of the accused, then that person is not banned. if it falls in favor of the "accuser", then that person is banned. i think this would be a fair situation. this same judicial review is also for people to "out" the mod. if the community's "best interest" does not appear to someone to be being sought, then the admin is stripped of admin, an interim admin is appointed, and a "review" of the situation will be done. but i would want to think this all through some more too. i am sure i have left something out or added something that needs to be retracted.

not being bossy is the key to being a mod! people want to be treated like adult human beings! you cant sheild their eyes from everything!
thanks dru for the kind words. i thing you made some very valid points.
i hope the pool can be a happy place again for its members....but right now its a shepherd and a bunch of sheep.
but i wouldnt know about recent events there because i was banned for what reason? no good reason. i'm much happier here wher i can speak my mind.

Don't think it's as 'POOF' sudden as you think... i know she's had it for a while. but not everyone knew that, so for some it WAS *poof* here's another pool. all i'm saying is that i don't think it's unfair to her if people don't want to post there.
