Christmas Eve at our house is a big deal! We get all dressed up and have champagne around 6PM. All the lights are turned off and all the candles are lit. There's usually a fire going. We toast and talk for a little bit, then open gifts one person at a time (they have to sit in the "hot seat" and someone hands their gifts to them). It's so special. I love how subdued and quiet it is. It starts getting crazy about halfway into gift opening. This Christmas we drank 4 bottles of champagne before we were even done with gifts! After we open gifts, my Mom makes Chicken a la King and we all sit down and eat. She brings out all her good china and sets a really formal table. It's so pretty! I couldn't imagine doing anything different. It sounds stuffy but it's not - we all get drunk and it's so much fun! Even the animals get gifts.

Christmas Eve for me.... during the day is pretty normal. Mum rushing around cooking and the like. This year I went to Emma's at about 2 to do the gift thingy (but no opening!). Then to the tradition bit, went to church at 6pm for the cradle service where little kids put the nativity scene together.... I pretty much day dream through that, I only go because I always have. Saw an LSA from school and my chemistry teacher... random.
Then we come home, Andrew came home and Dad goes and gets a Chinese takeaway and we sit and pig out on that as a family on the sitting room floor. Then just kinda veg.
I got sent upstairs early and told to shut the computer room door...

Christmas eve at my house this year. Well I spent the morning, and most of the afternoon in LA working. I sat in the airport for 5 hours. My flight was to be at 7:30pm, and was delayed until 8:20pm My mom proceeds to circle Phoenix International Airport for over an hour, because my flight was late, and all the parking lots were full, therefore closed. While that is going on, my dad is continuing the drinking at home with my sister and her boyfriend. I get home to catch the end of the worst movie ever (IMO) It's a Wonderful Life. After, we all BS for a bit, then April and said boyfriend leave, I stuff some stockings, and make my bed on the couch, and pass out. Only to be woken up at 6:45 am my friend Andrew calling to wish me a MC, (He lives in Flordia, and forgot the big time diff.) Then we all are up by 7am,crawling to the coffee pot, and my sister and brandon are 25 min. late from gift loading.
