If you are ever in Scottsdale, Arizona, and looking for rare books, I urge you never to go to The Antiquarian Shop. The owner/proprieter died in December, and his evil hag of a daughter took over. She's mishandled the shops money, and has fired an employee that did no wrong, and was a huge part of keeping that place alive. She fired her simply because there was no money left to pay her. But yet there are tons of needless additions/decorations to the shop, and you would not need to guess where the money came from. And believe me when I say that the decor can now be classified as "Tacky old lady" If she does not drive that once wonderful place into the hole alone, I urge you in helping boycott it so she will know the wrong that she has done. If George Chamberlain saw what she was doing to his once prominant business he'd roll over in his grave. So please. I urge you. DON'T GIVE YOUR BUSNIESS TO THAT PLACE! There are other places better suited to your needs, that don't fire employees because they themselves squandered the money in the busniness. www.abaa.com has a nice selection of places where you can do your rare book shopping. Thank you.

Yes I agree, f**k it up the ass with a rather large unpleasantly shaped gherkin.
What kind of 'rare' books do you mean, first editions and things? One thing I'd really love to get my mitts on is a first edition of Alice in Wonderland with the original Tenniel illustrations, but lordy is that expensive!
I love bookshops, old ones that is, I love walking into a place where they've got shelves packed to the ceiling with almost everything you can think of, piles of ancient tomes in the corner almost falling over, but each individual one a hidden treasure. I'd love to own somewhere like that in my later years, like a library but a thousand times more compact and soulful.

Yeah, those types of books HSW. My mom has had her hands on one of those. First editions, fine bindings, pricey stuff. But it's bad bad bad to buy anything from there now. They way that they are "running" that place is disgusting. George, would be sick if he could see it now. You might try www.bookfinder.com they can search all places ' data bases for those books, and well, any book. But if it says that the antiquarian shop has it, just move on. Even other book dealers in the business won't go there now. They are not ABAA, or IALB associated anymore. They can't get the sponsorship.
