How much??!!!!
I don't make that even in a so-called professional job. Heck, she must be giving out 'favors' to her customers on the side :heynow: ;D

It does sound like a lot... but I can't imagine that 48,000 a year will get you very far in Chicago. Isn't the cost of living really high?

4 grand a month as a waitress isn't impossible (as long as it is a really "nice" restaurant. and it depends on the time of year too. i would say 750 a week in a nice restaurant sounds more reasonable, but i don't live in chicago.
figure 15% of all your sales. if you sell 6666 bucks worth of food, that is roughly 1000 in tip. so, 6666 in 40 hours of work comes out to be 166 bucks worth of food and hour. each waitress in a restaurant usually has between 4-6 tables. with an average of 1.5 to 2 hour turn around for dinner. lets go with 5 tables at 2 hours each, so that is 20 tables in an eight hour day. so if you need to make 166 bucks an hour, 5 tables would have to spend 332 bucks combined every 2 hours. 332 divided by 5 tables is 66.4 bucks a table. that is A LOT of tables, but 66.4 bucks a table is not NEAR "expensive" food. so you can imagine it isn't impossible. Pat's Steak House in Louisville estimates 60 a person for dinner, and it isn't the most expensive. Equis (sp) is the most expensive (never been there though) and it estimates 100 a person for dinner. so if someone works at a place like that, then 1000 a week at 40 hours a week isn't that big of a deal. however 1000 a week to most people is 25 bucks an hour. which is pretty good pay in any city in the US. 20-30 is "average" labor union wages i think (like ford, GE, Toyota, and "shop" jobs).
i THINK i did that right!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
