After owning this for a week I feel deeply cheesed off that all the supposed 'extras' that were included on the DVD had already been made available to preorder people on Amazon. In the 'Beekeeper Videos' thread I hoped that this wouldn't be the case but.... And after the rubbishy DVD for the SW album I don't know why they bother. To be perfectly honest it's the personal touches that make a Tori offering special, like the handwritten lyrics in the Winter single, it shows that someone other than a corporate machine had a hand in the packaging. Yep, I never commented on the songs on her new album, just the fact that ninety percent of the content of the DVD (the very thing that's supposed to make it special) was given away free by Amazon already.
If I'd been given a heads-up I'd just have gone for the regular CD...if I could find it! I don't know about elsewhere but here in London I've seen nothing but Limited Edition on the shelves. That sorta defeats the point too dontcha think?

I do love the new album :hazy: but in no way think others should be forced to like it just because it is Tori I have actually been listening to the beekeeper in my car ever since I downloaded it - that is how much I love it :tiara: My goal is to be able to sing all the songs by heart :smrtss: :giggle: |

i think it is horrible. there is NO way a person that LOVES LE could even like this album. it is two different types of music, written by two differnt types of people and preformed by two absolute different performers.
there are two kinds of tori fans:
tori amos fans
and those that like(d) her post (but not including) boys for pele.
don't get me wrong. anyone can like both toris, but let's not kid ourselves and talk about them being the same person. for those that loved her from the get go, she became what she was against, the status quo. those that liked her music post-BFP, they can appreciate the musical qualities of those albums before, but those that loved her prior to and including BFP can't appreciate her becoming what she once stood against. there is no inspiration left in her. she no longer shines. she only reflects. and in the words of another that only reflects now and once shown brightly, "bleed in your own light". she has become a caricature of what she once was.
all that crap about her "evloving" and becoming "happy"...well...who cares. i dont' give a nuts about the happiness of multimillionaire. how come when someone's favorite band gets famous and the music suffere, the fans try to defend the bad music? whereas tom waits and david bowie have done nothing but get better with age. it doesn't have to be that fame/money/celebrity equal happiness. what it really boils down to is MOST of the time fame/money/celebrity breed complacency. and we all know complacency breeds mediocrity. she's not "happy", she's complacent, and is now attempting to pawn off some mediocre music on us like a cheesey used car dealer trying to sell us a crappy car, but all the while telling us how great it is by "packaging" it one way or another. f**k that limited edition nuts. i dont' even care about the album cover. i want good music. the rest is superfluous.

Weird..... but wonderful Kisses and Licks because some of us have known each other for years due to an original similar interest in tori amos (being that is how we met - on a tori amos board), we became pretty good friends and found lots more interesting things about each other than or "fan"ship of tori. there are some very beautiful individuals that come here and if they like tori's new album or not has no bearing on how i feel about them as a person. i certainly couldn't stop being their friend because they like an album i dislike. if you read the threads of this place, you will see that "tori" really isn't talked about that much. she was just the "front" for the board. if you base your friendships with regards to if someone doesn't like a certain musician that you like, then you are going to find yourself to become quite a bitter person some day. |
