As you travel to work on monday, try this: At any point in your journey, randomly, click your fingers once. What were you thinking? Were you wondering why the train was so late, thinking how hot it is, how your job is slowly eating your dreams, the amazing sex you had last night, how you wish you had more money... That thought, whatever it was, was the last one you had. Maybe it was the person next to you, or the woman in front of you, the old man at the end of the carriage but the flash of light and the instant of agonising pain were all that mattered to you after that point. Yes, you may think that exercise is trite or in bad taste, but over the last week it's been very hard not to think like that. The people on the underground were were certainly thinking those same things. I travel on those trains, those buses regularly. On another day, another time... And yet this was only one instance, in Baghdad and other places in the Middle East this is happening every day. Normal people, going to work, visiting loved ones, buying groceries, wondering if the person who's standing in line with them is going to perform what they see as the act of ultimate sacrifice. It's one thing to laud the way London, New York, Madrid etc are coping, but what about the places on the earth where this terror is the norm? To quote Eric Cartman "this is pretty f**ked up right here"
