so, two days ago, when it was around 11.00 pm and I was still up, I heard the doorbell. Since it was late, I thought it might be stupid kids up for some fun. But then the doorbell rang again and someone was knocking on my window. So, I opened the door and in front of me was my neighbour with her little baby boy in her arms. She was shaking all over and she said "I've got fire in my house, you better leave your house!" For some reason I didn't think it was that bad and told her to come in. I asked her if she had dialed the alarm number or if I should do that. But she had called the number herself. I told her to sit down, handed over some socks and just tried to calm her a little. She was in shock. All in all the fire was fairly small and it only caused a lot of smoke. She, the baby and her boyfriend were all fine and except for the fact that they have to clean everything and re-paint their living room and kitchen, no other major damage was done to the house. It was scary though. Fire is such a scary thing. I'm glad everything turned out to be "okay", but still...I couldn't sleep that entire night.

Holy Moley that must've been so freaky. I would've nuts myself if someone started knocking on my door like that and saying her house was on fire. I've seen those public information films where they show a whole living room engulfed in flames in about ten seconds flat...that could've been so much worse.

holy crap, that would be so scary!! At least she had a good neighbor like you who would help her! where I live, basically most of the U.S., people are too suspicious to open doors to people, even if they were holding a baby. Its such a shame.

it was very nice of you to give her socks. I'd have done the same.
